Recipe Sundays :: Pasta dish

Well, anyone who knows me well knows I like to cook and bake.  Thank god I don’t always have time, because I’m pretty sure I would be huge as a house if I did.  I’m italian, I like to eat! My husband is always telling me we don’t have to make such a big production over a meal.  I’ve always been a huge fan of sitting down with everyone and listening to everyone’s day.  Call me old fashioned, but there’s definitely something to be said about a family who eats together.  So I guess I figured if we’re going to spend all this time, we might as well have some great food to share!   So over the years I have searched and searched for some good recipes.  I think I usually find them by complete accident.  So I decided to share some of these recipes with all of you.  I really thought this would help all my newlyweds who might not be use to cooking for two, or just cooking at all!  🙂  I don’t know if I’ll post these EVERY Sunday.  But I’m starting to go over all of them, so hopefully you’ll get to see a lot of them.

So this recipe by far is one of my easiest ones, and I get the most rave reviews from people.

Bow Ties with Sausage and Peppers

  • 8oz of bow tie pasta
  • 12 oz of Italian Sausage  (I usually use 4 links)
  • 2 red sweet peppers, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or beef broth (try using low sodium ones too, it tastes just as good!)
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 cup parsley

Cook your pasta normally.  Drain when complete.  While that’s cooking, cut the sausage into 1 inch pieces.  Cook the sausage and peppers in a skillet on the oven until the sausage is brown.  Drain any fat.  Stir the broth and black pepper into the sausage mixture.  Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes.  After the 5 minutes, take it and pour over the pasta.   Add parsley.  Toss and  Voila!  You’re done!

It’s that simple!  Try it out and let me know how you like it!
